In case you have missed the earlier blog posts, I would like to re-introduce myself. My name is Kim and I have been at It’s Yoga Fuerteventura for the past 5 months as an intern, co-learner on trainings and facilitator for The Rocket®. As part of my studies for the Bachelor of International Sport Management and Business, I have been interning at It’s Yoga Fuerteventura since September and conducting research into customer relations, as well as keeping new channels active, such as the IYFV blog page and the e-newsletter. Furthermore, I was a co-learner for the 200 hours in August, the 301 Rocket® Foundations in September and the 302 Rocket® Take-Off in December.
It has been wonderful.
It was the first time that I spent several months on end on the island and at IYFV. Although I had visited for various trainings and holidays before, it was different and absolutely amazing to be able to spent more time here, getting to know faces better and being a part of so many delightful adventures. I began my time at IYFV re-taking the 200hr and 301 trainings – the same trainings at the same time that I had first come to Fuerteventura and IYFV one year before. Being a co-learner has been a very interesting experience because I've been to that place before but yet everything is different. It was a rewarding experience to be part of others’ journeys and seeing fellow yogis grow in their own ways. Through the trainings, I met wonderful people, solidified existing knowledge and took an important step in becoming a Rocket® trainer one day.
Being a co-learner on the 302 training in December was one of my highlights. Jari from It’s Yoga Helsinki came back. It had been almost exactly a year before that I was taking my own 302 training at IYFV with Jari and Salla for the first time. And it was amazing. Again. It was so nice to see other fellow yogis learn the tools of It’s Yoga and The Rocket® and expand our international community.
The 302 training includes Yin and Restorative yoga and Jari shared new tools with us for this topic. I had all my notebooks with my old notes but added extra information for everything we discussed. I am always learning and forgetting and re- learning, finding new insights as I go along. At the same time as the 302 training, I was also lucky to meet It’s Yoga trainer Ryan and take part in his inversion workshop and the classes he taught. It was exciting to meet new faces of this worldwide It’s Yoga family. As an intern at It’s Yoga Fuerteventura, I had the opportunity to be part of the day-to- day happenings at the studio, taking a look behind the scenes and really becoming a part of the IYFV community. It has been a pleasure to be able to create the blog contents and share some topics with you. It has also been exciting to teach weekly classes and to get to know all the IYFV faces. In addition, I had the great opportunity to conduct my first workshop, which was a big stepping stone for me. All these aspects have supported me to become a more confident and experienced teacher. I am endlessly grateful to have had the opportunity to spend these months on this beautiful island, at this beautiful studio with so many beautiful people. All that is really left to say is Thank You. Thank you IYFV community for being dedicated and always showing up to practice. Thank you fellow teacher trainees and all the It’s Yoga family here for the amazing times and great practices. Thank you, Salla, for making this possible and being open to having me here. I will miss this place dearly but as always, it is not goodbye. It is, “See you later”.
